History:
http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Alucard

Personality:
Comparing Alucard to a sword would not be inaccurate. Cool, deadly and with little emotion, life has not been kind to the dhampir. Being born from a union of a human and vampire, Alucard is a unique individual: a dhampir. While most people would think it amazing to live forever, it is not that great when born into a culture that considers vampires to be a curse. Alucard shares this assessment about himself, thinking it better that he live apart from people so his powers do not threaten mankind.

When a crisis arises, Alucard keeps a cool head and plots his course. Most of his responses involve using swords, but in others, such as meeting Maria in Castlevania, he decides to listen to what she has to say and accept help accordingly.

He'd been groomed to be his father's general in his monstrous army against humanity. However, the dying words of his mother and his own personal convictions made him rethink what he'd doing with this life up until that point. He did not come to this decision right away, but thought carefully on the decision. This might seem contradictory, but if not faced with the need to immediately make a decision or if he is truly conflicted on what is the right choice, he tends to brood on it. After leaving his father's army, he stayed away in the countryside, not helping his father, but certainly not doing anything to stop him at that point.

It is not an exaggeration that having Trevor Belmont beat him in combat gave him new perspective and purpose. Although not said specifically in canon, one can infer that becoming one of Trevor's allies (and likely friends) really changed his life, since from that point on, Alucard became devoted to stopping the evil his father represented, even taking on the moniker “Alucard” to show how opposed he'd become to Dracula. It apparently also touched Trevor as well, since he'd made sure that his family and his descendents knew what Alucard had done to aid the Belmont Clan.

Alucard is a fairly lonely man, feeling alienated from humanity because of his cursed blood. He is not one for small talk, intent on focusing on the matter at hand, accomplishing it and moving onto the next objective. In the middle of ongoing battle situations, however, he can make allies swiftly and will be ready and able to render assistance. His quickness in befriending Trevor allowed him to embrace the cause of the Belmont Clan, making it his own for the rest of his endless life.
Despite seeming mostly emotionless, Alucard can get very passionate when a situation affects him deeply. When finally facing down his father, the scorn drips from his tone and he swears in the name of his mother to put a stop to him before his plans can come to fruition. More cruelly when the Succubus forces him to relive the memory of his mother's execution, he's fairly begging for it to stop, only to realize that someone is playing with his mind. He is coldly furious, killing the demon without a second thought.

What isn't stated but could be inferred/technically headcanon possibly: In the 1400s, the world Alucard is born into, it is very Christian. It's very likely this is what fuels Alucard's feelings about his powers. Dracula is clearly a demon and Alucard is born from such a union, therefore he has to be one. And yet, with some prompting, he strives to do good. He is not a demon as labeled because in official art, Alucard is holding a sword and what looks like a rosary. In game, he has the use of multiple subweapons that are holy objects. Namely a Holy Book (a Bible), Bibuti (holy ash) and a Cross, which results in a giant cross with Jesus on it destroying everything on the screen. Although Alucard does have traditional weaknesses of vampires (water and he does get hurt more by holy damage toward himself), he gets things to either overcome or lessen their damage. If Alucard didn't care at all about Christianity, he sure wouldn't use holy items in battle. I see it as a nice unspoken clue about his personality. Yes, he has a lot of dark powers, but dark is not bad, per se.

I will also note there's no canon info on how old Alucard is supposed to be physically either. It's kind of a range so I hit that range somewhere in the middle.

Etc: Just curious how many of Alucard's canon powers he'd retain because he's pretty ridiculously broken by the time Symphony ends. Also, in his canon, he's weak to water until he gets what is called a Holy Symbol. In game, this is a snorkel and funny as hell, but for practical purposes, I've opted for an alternative as a rosary he wears at all times.

Prompt 3 – A New/Old Life

How could this be? How could he even find himself here? Amongst humanity, living among them without any care. A simple life of a graduate history student, working toward a goal, even tutoring students. Presumably he'd been doing it for quite a while.

Alucard rubbed at the ache in his chest. Tear one's heart out indeed. With the awakening of his true memories came all of his uncertainty about living among people. He remembered what they did to his mother and how they treated his kind: like a curse. He agreed with them on general principle. His powers were dangerous and should be kept away from people.

And yet, despite the falsehood, despite knowing that his previous life had been a fabrication, Alucard could not say that he'd been unhappy. There were countless interactions with fellow students, peers, teachers and younger ones who looked to him as an example. He could not simply vanish into the aether and shut himself away from the world. For whatever reason, he'd been brought here and he'd learned and lived as he never did in his own country. These newfound skills could be put to good use, if he chose to use them in that manner.

Steepling his hands over his nose, Alucard considered his options. He couldn't leave the city even if he wanted to. No allies or members of the Belmont Clan here to prove aid in conquering this problem. What he did have was a phone with a strange program that forced him to use his preferred moniker, a Persona torn from his heart and a whole lot of questions. He certainly hadn't been alone in that chatroom. What if there were others like him, confused and also trying to gain their bearings?

Instead of turning away from the problem, why not face it headlong and gain allies to seek information? He'd continue his role as a graduate student as best he could, but also learn what he needed to find his answers.

He could appreciate the irony. Dealing with the duality of his current existence was a daily occurrence for him for so long now. It brought a tiny smile to his lips as he logged into Apple.net.
